WAHsuits Care Manual
WAH Care Protocol
A WAH is built to last. Proper care keeps materials stable, fur soft and structure safe over time.
Think of this as your official WAH maintenance handbook. Fursuits are wearable art: they can last beautifully for a long time, but only if they are cleaned, dried, brushed and stored correctly.
Golden Care Rules
No Heat Exposure
WAH materials are highly heat sensitive. Excess heat may weaken the suit and permanently alter the fur structure.
- Maximum water temperature: 30°C
- No tumble drying or heated airflow
- No radiators, hot cars, direct sun or heat sources
Disinfect After Use
After each wear, disinfecting is strongly recommended to prevent odor, bacteria buildup and material degradation.
Brush During Drying
Brushing while the fur dries helps preserve flow, softness and shape.
The Cleaning Flow
Disinfect
Use a light 70% alcohol / 30% water solution after wear.
Spot Check
Check high-contact areas, stains, seams and sweat zones.
Wash When Needed
Full washing is only necessary after heavy use or events.
Dry Flat
Use airflow, shade and patience. Never use heat.
Brush & Store
Brush the fur back into place and store in a cool dry space.
Disinfection
Recommended Mix
A 70% alcohol / 30% water solution is recommended for regular disinfection. Light fragrance is allowed as long as it contains no dye.
Fursuit Sprays
Commercial fursuit sprays are also suitable if they are safe for faux fur and fabric lining.
Be Gentle
Avoid excessive alcohol use on glued areas, painted details or lined sections.
Head Cleaning
Submerging
Heads may be fully submerged in cold water for cleaning.
Cleaning Method
- Mild detergent soak for around 30 minutes
- Gentle scrubbing on muzzle, neck and forehead
- Eyes are waterproof, but avoid alcohol on painted details
Do Not Lift When Soaked
Do not lift the head while fully water-soaked. Always drain it flat first.
Drying
- Press water out gently, do not twist
- Air dry with strong ventilation
- Brush frequently during the drying process
Brushing Protocol
Shaved Areas
Use a soft brush on shaved facial areas.
Medium Fur
Use a slicker brush with gentle pressure.
Long Fur
Use a wide-tooth comb to avoid pulling and damaging the fibers.
Why It Matters
Regular brushing prevents matting and preserves the original fur flow.
Bodysuit Cleaning
Do Not Over-Wash
Full washing is only required after heavy use or events. Over-washing may reduce material lifespan.
Machine Settings
- Cold wash only, 20–30°C
- Low spin cycle, 400–600 RPM
- Mild detergent only
- No aggressive detergents
- Minimal or no fabric softener
Never Hang Wet Suits
Heavy wet suits must never be hung. Lay flat to prevent stretching.
Handpaws & Feetpaws
Washing
- Machine wash in a protective bag or pillowcase
- Cold wash only
- Air dry with brushing
TPU Feetpaws
TPU-based feetpaws dry quickly and tolerate soaking better than foam builds.
Crocs Interior
Clean the Crocs interior with a sponge and mild detergent.
Tails
Spot Cleaning First
Spot cleaning is recommended before a full wash.
Wash Only When Needed
Full washing should be done only when necessary.
Polyfill Movement
Polyfill movement is normal after washing. Larger tails may require reshaping or restuffing after drying.
Drying Conditions
No Direct Sunlight
Never dry in direct sunlight. UV exposure may fade or yellow fur.
Best Drying Setup
- Dry in shaded, ventilated environments
- Use fans for airflow acceleration
- Brush periodically during drying
Storage Protocol
Storage Conditions
- Store in cool, dry environments
- Use wide hangers for bodysuits
- Avoid folding fur when possible
- Use garment bags for long-term storage
Long-Term Stability
Storage stability is essential to maintain long-term shape and fur integrity.
Operational Guidelines
During Wear
- Wear underlayer clothing at all times
- Use a balaclava for hygiene and comfort
- Avoid overheating environments
After Wear
- Clean stains immediately after exposure
- Check seams regularly for maintenance
- Disinfect and ventilate before storage
Final WAH Wisdom
A well-maintained WAH retains structure, softness and visual quality significantly longer.
Final Care Note
Your WAH is handmade, soft, weird, precious and built with care. Treat it like wearable art and it will stay magical for much longer.
